SUNRISE addresses challenges faced by Ukrainian PhD students in environmental subjects due to the war. It develops the
capacity of EU partners to provide relevant support in this sense. With 12 involved scholars from EU & 10 from Ukraine,
SUNRISE aims to:
- build war-resistant and resilient learning infrastructure;
- support the war resilience and post-war recovery through curriculum contents reflecting the emerging challenges;
- ensure future academic competitiveness and research innovation.
- Development of online ICT services for PhD training, leveraging on post-disaster experiences of UniCam & UniZg in the
context of UN and EU strategies and directives;
- Co-development of research databases and curricula on post-war recovery & resilience, PhD (co-)supervision and expert
advising/training support on emerging topics;
- Development of resilience guidelines for the post-war recovery and enhancement of academic activities in environmental
research at partner campuses in Ukraine.
Results:
- A suite of online services supporting PhD training, student work & learning progress (e-learning, e-science, e-portfolio),
provided by UniCam & EMU;
- Curriculum, training tools & research datasets reflecting on war risks & impacts, and PhD research with possibility of (co-
)supervision for Ukrainian students & supervisors;
- Resilience guidelines (Ukrainian-generic & campus-specific) and activities supporting post-war recovery, development of
competitive environmental research and training.
