Architecture and Children - Built Environment Education Network is a working program of the International Union of Architects aimed to develop built environment education for children and youth as well as connect and encourage such activities around the world. The program is based on the assumption that, by learning about the built environment, the children of today will be able to understand the space around them and actively participate in its articulation as adults. Croatia joined this working program in 2007, represented
through the Chamber of Architects. In 2009, the Chamber’s former president Helena Knifiæ-Schaps, together with the program’s first Croatian delegate Sanja Filep (and an array of partners), organized an international symposium which brought together lecturers from various countries who introduced the modalities of implementing goals of this program to government officials and a broader audience.
